JCK Rock Star Wins Best Print/Video Campaign at min’s 2012 Integrated Marketing Awards
Washington D.C. (September 24, 2012)—JCK Rock Star, the year-long monthly branded entertainment series sponsored by Swarovski Gems, took home the award for the best Print/Video at this year’s min’s Integrated Marketing Awards. JCK Rock Star had stiff competition, but it beat out consumer brands including Time Inc.’s “Dove Go Sleeveless Deodorant Get Ready for Sleeveless Season. “
According to min, the Integrated Marketing Awards “recognizes print brands that are at the forefront of marketing’s continued evolution. These integrated marketers leverage the power of the printed page for branding and to connect with audiences, while also exploiting myriad digital channels, to deliver evocative and effective marketing campaigns.” JCK Rock Star Sponsored by Swarovski Gems was a 12-part series that featured a monthly 3-minute video on JCKOnline.com, in which 5 up-and-coming designers competed to see who could create the most beautiful jewelry piece using Swarovski gemstones.
The first installment of JCK Rock Star debuted on JCK TV, which aired in more than 5,000 hotel rooms at the JCK Las Vegas Show in June 2011, to huge acclaim and excitement, boosting interest and driving viewership.
The video series culminated in the selection of one winner by the three judges—JCK magazine editor in chief Vic Gomelsky, Daniel Cohen, President, Swarovski North America LTD and top luxury retailer Randi Udell-Alper, Vice President at London Jewelers. The finale aired on JCK TV at the June 2012 JCK Las Vegas show.
JCK magazine and JCKOnline were integral to promoting the series and allowing audiences to learn more about the designers and the competition itself outside of the short 3-minute videos shown online. In addition to two feature articles, “Who will be JCK’s Rock Star?” in the July/August 2011 issue and “Hey Now You’re a Rock Star” in the June 2012 issue announcing the winner, the magazine featured regular teases and mentions. Additionally, there were two online features teased JCK News Daily each month.
“JCK Rock Star’s success proves that audiences in the b2b space are extremely receptive to branded entertainment,” said JCK Publisher Mark Smelzer. “Most importantly, we could not have had a better partner in this venture than Swarovski Gems, whose purpose matched JCK’s—to create a fun, consumer friendly reality show that helped promote fresh talent.”
